Standard Chartered has won Best TBML & Trade / Sanctions Compliance Solution, In-house at the ninth annual Regulation Asia Awards for Excellence, presented at The St. Regis Hong Kong.
HONG KONG, 5 November 2026 – Standard Chartered has won Best TBML & Trade / Sanctions Compliance Solution, In-house at the ninth annual Regulation Asia Awards for Excellence, presented at The St. Regis Hong Kong.
Standard Chartered is recognised for TFRM, its in-house Trade AML and Trade Fraud Contextual Monitoring solution, which is live across multiple markets since May 2026. The platform replaces isolated alerts with contextual, network-driven detection built on 31 scenarios and 26 risk factors.
The award adds to Standard Chartered's earlier Regulation Asia recognition, including its 2025 win for Best In-house Use of AI in Fraud & Financial Crime Detection.
The award recognises the solution that best detects trade-based money laundering and sanctions and export-control exposure in trade, screening transactions, documents, goods, vessels and counterparties for typologies such as over- and under-invoicing, phantom shipments and misclassification. The Awards Committee assessed entries on trade-based money laundering detection, trade-data coverage, sanctions and dual-use screening within trade, and automated due diligence.
“Standard Chartered has replaced isolated transaction alerts with contextual, network-driven monitoring for trade-based money laundering, live across several markets, backed by careful threshold calibration and below-the-line testing,” said the Regulation Asia Awards Committee.
“Trade finance remains one of the hardest places to detect financial crime. Standard Chartered's in-house work shows how a large trade bank can raise the bar,” said Bradley Maclean, Chair of the Awards Committee, Regulation Asia.
“Supporting our clients’ cross-border trade means helping them navigate an increasingly complex risk landscape. This recognition reflects our deep trade expertise and continued investment in technology and controls to better detect financial crime and strengthen the trade ecosystem our clients depend on for resilience and growth,” said Sofia Hammoucha, Global Head, Trade & Working Capital, Standard Chartered.
About the Regulation Asia Awards for Excellence
Now in their ninth year, the Regulation Asia Awards for Excellence recognise achievements advancing regulatory practice across Asia-Pacific.
The judging process involves an independent panel of senior industry practitioners and the Awards Committee. Entries are assessed against published, award-specific criteria covering Asia-Pacific relevance and material developments in the twelve months to 30 June 2026. Awards are granted against a defined standard rather than relative to other entries.
Judging decisions are independent of editorial and commercial operations. There is no entry, shortlisting or winner fee, and commercial relationships do not influence results.
